15 Jan New Myspace Publicly Launches with Fresh Web Design
In a bid for relevancy, Timberlake backed New Myspace Launches
Available behind a closed beta for a few months, the new Myspace website has finally been opened up to the public. But will the public bite, even with the gorgeous new web design?
Backed by singer/actor/and now entrepreneurial maestro Justin Timberlake, New Myspace is focused on providing users with new ways to follow artists and their content. So while New Myspace is still technically a social media network, the focus is more around connecting with content providers, rather than with friends and family.
As you can see from the screenshot provided, you can still create a custom profile and be followed by your peers, but your profile is primarily used to show off what content you are consuming. Music, Videos, and Photos seem to be the focus for now, though time will tell if they expand the scope to other mediums like Video Games and Books.
So is the New MySpace something that I should add to my Social Media Strategy?
As of right now, the New Myspace doesn’t really seem like it would be worth it to anyone other than musicians, videographers, and photographers — although that could change in the near future.
We’ll continue to keep an eye on the site’s progress and explore new features as they become available, and we’ll provide a simple runthrough of how the site works in a future article. Until then, feel free to check out the New Myspace for yourself and tell us what you think in the comments below!
